Challenges in Schools
Catholic schools across the United States, particularly those serving low-income and underserved communities, are facing significant challenges in maintaining enrollment, financial sustainability, and accessibility. Many of these schools struggle to pay teachers and staff, complete needed maintenance and updates, and purchase the best curriculum for their students. As a result, Catholic schools are not reaching their full potential in providing a faithful education to students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, leaving many families unable to access the educational environment that aligns with Church teachings.
Additionally, the broader societal shift toward more secular education systems that don’t have an obvious price tag has created an environment where Catholic schools are often overlooked as viable options, despite their strong focus on developing both academic excellence and strengthening their faith. This decline in enrollment not only threatens the long-term sustainability of Catholic schools to pass on the faith but also limits their ability to serve the Common Good.

- Intentional Scholarship Distribution – Unlike many SGOs that scatter funding across different sectors, Reficio would exclusively serve families to access Catholic schools, ensuring no dilution of funds.
- Proven Track Record – With the experience of our sister organizations, Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund and C2 Opportunity Scholarships, we have the expertise to effectively manage scholarship funds, ensuring compliance and maximizing impact.
- Expanding Access & Enrollment – A Catholic-centered SGO would increase enrollment in Catholic schools by removing financial barriers for families who desire a Catholic education but cannot afford it.
- Long-Term Catholic School Sustainability – Dedicated funding streams lead to more financial stability for Catholic schools, allowing them to plan for the future and invest in teachers, curriculum, and facilities.
- Religious Liberty Protections – Reficio will have Catholic leadership and staff and will operate with policies that align with Church teachings.
